Axxess CARE Now Available Nationwide

Axxess, the leading technology innovator for healthcare at home, announced its revolutionary scheduling and staffing solution, Axxess CARE, is now available nationwide.

Axxess CARE has already helped nurses and therapists complete nearly 50,000 home health visits across 16 states, enabling organizations like Serenity Home Health to work with more clinicians to accept referrals and expand to new markets.

“Our rollout over the past few years has proven Axxess CARE works as a transformative way to deliver care, and now I’m excited that it will be available everywhere in the United States,” said John Olajide, Founder and CEO of Axxess. “The ability to easily connect home health organizations with qualified clinicians to provide timely care is a key differentiator, and there is simply no other solution like it to help address staffing challenges and enable the best possible care. It is just one more example of Axxess’ commitment to ensuring that the future of healthcare is in the home while partnering with our clients and industry to deliver the highest quality patient-centered care in the home and grow with confidence.”

Axxess CARE is integrated with Axxess Home Health, a secure, HIPAA-compliant software platform, enabling organizations to conveniently post visits for qualified professionals. After downloading the Axxess CARE mobile app through the Apple App Store or Google Play, clinicians can apply for visits after background checks, license verifications and Office of Inspector General checks have been completed. Organizations then have the flexibility to review and select the most appropriate clinician for each posted visit.

Credentials available for new states using Axxess CARE are Nurse Practitioner; Master of Science in Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Registered Nurse; Licensed Practical Nurse; and Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Axxess CARE is available to Axxess clients who use Axxess Home Health software.

Axxess Integrates with Surescripts Health Information Network

Axxess, the leading technology innovator for care at home, announced an integration with Surescripts, a nationwide health information network that supports electronic transmission of medication and clinical information between virtually all electronic health records (EHR) vendors, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), pharmacies and clinicians, plus an increasing number of health plans, long-term and post-acute care organizations, specialty hubs and specialty pharmacy organizations.

This integration will ultimately enable Axxess clients to connect to the Surescripts Network Alliance for three services: Clinical Direct Messaging, Medication History for Reconciliation, and Record Locator & Exchange. Together, these services arm home healthcare professionals with actionable patient intelligence needed to make more informed care decisions. Providers will be able to run automated queries for patient demographic information, clinical care visit information, and medication history for patients nationwide. The integration with Surescripts for Clinical Direct Messaging is now available for Axxess Home Health users. The Medication History for Reconciliation and Record Locator & Exchange services will be available later in 2021.

“Interoperability is the future of post-acute care,” said Tim Ingram, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Axxess. “The ability to connect through Surescripts’ extensive health information network will help Axxess clients speed the caregiving process and streamline their operations with instant, secure transmission of healthcare records across providers. The Surescripts network will give organizations the power to turn data into actionable insights that drive quality outcomes.”

The clinical direct messaging feature available through Surescripts will also offer a simple, secure and scalable way for care at home organizations to send and receive secure information across care settings.

“Our ability to effectively and efficiently serve the home health care market with the tools and technology that care providers need most is increasingly vital,” said Tara Dragert, Vice President of Product Innovation at Surescripts. “Through our nationwide health information network, Axxess clients gain a trusted partner in making better informed decisions that ultimately improve patient care and safety.”

The integration with Surescripts is now available for Axxess Home Health clients and will be offered to clients of Axxess Hospice and Axxess Home Care in 2021.

Axxess/Home Health Care News Survey Reveals Effect of Coronavirus Pandemic on Growth of Home-Based Care Organizations

Results of a recent survey by Axxess, the leading technology innovator for healthcare at home, in collaboration with Home Health Care News, the leading daily news publication serving the in-home care industry, indicate the COVID-19 pandemic has had a mixed impact on the home-based care industry during 2020 but far outweighs all other uncertainties as possibly having the biggest impact in the coming year.

The survey results showed that of those organizations experiencing a revenue decline, care challenges and staffing challenges related to COVID-19 were the dominant reasons. Survey respondents indicated recruitment and retention continue to be a high priority in addressing staffing challenges, and that developing referral relationships will be the primary growth opportunity in the months ahead.

The survey examined challenges of creating and sustaining growth for home-based care organizations and measured the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other issues.

“This year has brought many important issues around healthcare to light as we all navigate the challenges presented by COVID-19 and issues surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion,” said John Olajide, founder and CEO of Axxess. “The results of this survey show how these challenges are affecting organizations in unique ways and the steps our industry is taking to prepare for future growth. Even as we find our way through this uncertain time, I continue to have no doubt the future of healthcare is in the home.”

Key takeaways include:

● Organizations are experiencing mixed results due to COVID-19 – While virtually identical percentages of organizations responding indicated they have experienced revenue increases or decreases this year, of those experiencing a decline the pandemic has made it more challenging for organizations to care for patients and staff their operations. Survey respondents indicated that uncertainty around the virus will have the biggest impact on in-home care for the remainder of 2020 and into 2021.

● In-home care organizations are taking steps to address racial issues – Addressing racial inequality is top-of-mind for home-based care organizations. Nearly 80% of respondents say they either have increased resources for staff diversity, equity, and inclusion or they plan to do so before the end of the year.

● New referral relationships and recruitment and retention are the top growth strategies for home-based care organizations – While new referral relationships were cited as the best growth opportunity, many respondents felt that the staffing challenges for the industry also present an opportunity. Talent availability due to higher unemployment rates was seen as a real opportunity for growth in 2020.

The full report, including detailed results, can be found here. “Growth During Uncertainty: 2020 In-Home Care Industry Survey and Report” is based on the views of 315 industry participants polled online in July 2020.

The United States of America Secretary of State has announced that it is imposing visa restrictions on Nigerians believed to be responsible for, or complicit in, undermining democracy in Nigeria. Axxess Launches All-New Revolutionary Hospice Software

Home healthcare innovation leader Axxess has released Axxess Hospice, a state-of-the-art software solution to address the unique needs of hospice providers. Axxess Hospice was custom-built by hospice professionals with decades of industry experience to offer unique and intuitive capabilities that help hospice professionals more easily deliver the highest quality compassionate care.

“We took our time to meet the needs of the hospice industry and create another innovative solution that is unlike anything on the market,” said Axxess founder and CEO John Olajide. “Axxess Hospice perfectly reflects my commitment to creating solutions that streamline operations and improve patient care, and I am confident it will quickly become the industry standard like our other solutions.”

Other hospice software have been modified from home health Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software, which often requires further complicated adjustments in operations to deliver quality hospice care. Axxess’ hospice experts instead poured their insights into the development of comprehensive solutions and features tailored to the needs of the hospice industry. These solutions make Axxess Hospice revolutionary in addressing care needs and include:

IDG Center: The entire Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) can manage the collaboration process seamlessly. The IDG Center is HIPAA-compliant and enables team scheduling, interactive compliance-tracking, the ability to sign documentation in bulk, and individual and group notifications. The solution enables individual IDG members to take HIPAA-compliant notes and find them quickly, rather than needing to use handwritten notes.

Intuitive Messaging: The Axxess Hospice Messaging Center is HIPAAcompliant and designed to make it easy for members of the care team to communicate with one another. Chat features function the same as the messaging systems of iOS and Android operating devices. A group chat option allows for multiple users to engage in a HIPAA-compliant conversation about patient or family member care. Team members can attach messages to the patient chart using the # symbol (#johnsmith). Team members can tag others by using the @ symbol (@suesmith).

Scheduling Center: The Scheduling Center enables agencies to seamlessly schedule people and address priorities without using unnecessary processes. The patient's schedule can be viewed in increments of 14 days, a month, the benefit period, or today. When scheduling a patient visit or task, the user has the flexibility to individually schedule, or have the scheduled visit or task repeat on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis. Shift scheduling enables continuous care visits to be scheduled and tracked, and will calculate the hours per discipline for any 24-hour period.

Billing Center: The Billing Center enables agencies to bill and collect for services provided in an easy, efficient way. Axxess Hospice features color-coded indicators to let administrators know when more documentation is needed, has been uploaded or completed, and is ready for review. Notices of Election (NOEs) and Notices of Transfer/Revocation (NOTRs) are easily accessible for verification
and can be automated as needed.

Bereavement Center: While other hospice software products may have bereavement service included, they do not have a Bereavement Center that is easy to use, and that enables users to spend more of their time providing compassionate, individualized and compliant bereavement services. Axxess Hospice includes bereavement risk assessment scores and specific tasks related to caring for the bereaved. An individualized plan of care is created for each person receiving bereavement services, a requirement of the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

Volunteer Center: Providers have a feature integrated into the software to track volunteer hours to ensure compliance with the mandatory rule that at least five percent of total direct patient care comes from volunteers. The Volunteer Center allows for tracking of criminal and OIG checks, volunteer training, availability, preferences, and mileage.

Added Olajide: “The professionals who have started using Axxess Hospice have told us they are very impressed with the power and ease of use built into our solutions. I am delighted that our team of hospice experts and in-house engineers have created a solution that will dramatically improve the ability of hospice professionals to care for patients and families. It’s just the first step in a continuing process to address industry needs and provide the highest quality compassionate care possible.”

Utilizing Research and Data for Home Healthcare Strategy

It's no secret that research drives innovation and change. While the home healthcare industry has been somewhat lacking in having solid, grounded research, Jennifer Schiller, Director of Policy, Communications and Research, and others at the Alliance for Home Health Quality and Innovation (AHHQI) have set out to increase the amount of research that informs the industry by becoming a research incubator. Schiller discussed this effort during a recent episode of the Help Choose Home podcast. In expanding how research is used in the industry, they seek to better educate about the value of home healthcare.
