Mobile devices have become ever-present in our daily lives,
and it is difficult to participate fully in activities of the global economy
and 21st century life without access to mobile devices. According to a 2015 mobile consumer survey by Deloitte,
mobile has become indispensable across all demographics and geographies, and is
now equated with life’s essentials: air, water, food – and smartphones.
The New Hub for Connectivity
Today, the Pew Research Center reports that more than 77% of
Americans own smartphones. Mobile devices are vital for completing daily
personal activities and professional duties, and consumer attachment to mobile
devices continues to strengthen.
It is therefore not surprising that more individuals check
their smartphones first thing in the morning and seem to never put down their
devices. Advances in mobile technology have made these devices no longer just
simple tools, limited to telephone calls and basic communication, but they have
become a hub for connectivity, opening doors to internet-of-things, mobile
payments, virtual reality and more.
